필자는 로지텍 코드리스 인터넷 키보드 프로를 사용한다.

얼마전까지 OSD(on screen display) SW이자 관리 프로그램인 iTouch를 데스크탑에서 문제없이 사용하다가, 노트북에 연결하면서보니 프로그램이 다음과 같은 에러메시지를 내면서 설치가 되지 않았다.

"Sorry, this software is not compatible with your operating system. Your device will provide basic functionality. The installer will now close"

혹시나 xp sp3의 문제인가 하여 호환성모드로도 돌려보았지만 결과는 똑같았다.

구글에 검색하여 외국포럼을 돌아다니다보니 해결방법을 알게되어 포스팅을한다. 부디 같은에러로 어려움을 가진 블로거들에게 도움이 되었으면 한다.

Well, after trawling the internet, I have found both the reason and the solution to this problem. I feel it unfair not to let others know the solution. But it will involve editing an entry in the registry, therefore to cover both myself and Logitech:

 

Editing registry entries can severely damage a pc, and what I am about to post, if you attempt it, you do at your own risk. Neither I, nor Logitech, take any responsibility for damage caused as a result of your registry editing activities.

 

This apparently is caused (in my case and others) when you install Sound Blaster X-Fi software and drivers before you install Logitech's iTouch software. The Sound Blaster software tricks the iTouch software into thinking that you have a 64-bit operating system, even if you just have a 64-bit processor.

 

The way I got round this was going into the registry by clicking start, run, typing 'regedit', and clicking ok.

 

Then locating the registry key  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node], and right clicking on the 'Wow6432Node', and renaming it to 'aWow6432Node' (without the quotes). Keep the registry editor open, and install the software as you would normally. It should work. Once the software is installed (make sure you don't choose restart the computer in the wizard yet), find the entry you've just edited (bear in mind it will move to a new alphabetical position). Then change the 'aWow6432Node' back to 'Wow6432Node', and close the registry.

 

Hope this works for you, it certainly worked for me.

이를 번역한 iTouch 드라이버 설치는 다음과 같다.

1. 시작 - 실행 - regedit 엔터를 눌러 레지스트리 편집기 실행.
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node 를 찾아가서 마우스 우클릭을 하여 'Wow6432Node' 라 되어있는것을 'aWow6432Node' 로 수정한다. (양끝의 '는 제외하고 입력. 즉 앞에 a만 하나 더 붙여준다) 레지스트리편집기는 아직 종료하지 않는다.
3. 다운로드한 iTouch 드라이버를 설치한다. 설치프로그램 종료시에 시스템을 재시작옵션이 있는데 나중에 재시작을 선택하여 재시작하지않는다.
4. 설치완료 후 레지스트리편집기에서 'aWow6432Node' 로 되어있는 부분을 원래대로 'Wow6432Node'로 변경해준다.
5. 시스템을 재시작하고 설치된 iTouch드라이버를 마음껏 즐긴다.


문제의 원인은 로지텍 포럼의 엔지니어가 한 말을 인용하자면.. xp의 64비트와 32비트의 호환성문제라고 한다.
